Hope Journey - The Three Wise Men

On January 15th, Wesley Place was host to 60 children from Excalibur and Cranberry Primary Schools. We mounted another in the series of Hope Journeys, this time looking at the journey of the Three Wise Men from the East to Bethlehem, so they could pay homage to the baby Jesus.

The Hope Journeys are a series of presentations looking at diferent aspects of the
RE curriculum from a Christian perspective. In this way, we hope to teach young children more about specific aspects of Christian teaching, in a way which is both educational and appealing.

This event was sponsored by Alsager Educational Foundation, whose help Wesley Place gratefully acknowledges.

Our minister, Rob Hilton, welcoming the children to Wesley Place.

The children drew maps of their own journey from school to Wesley Place, showing the things of interest they saw on their way. This led to a discussion of journeys and the journey made by the Wise Men.

The story of the Wise Men's journey was told by puppets, explaining the hardships they encountered on their long journey to see the new born King.

We discussed with the young people what gifts they might bring to a new born baby today. We compared these with the gifts brought by the Wise Men,  showing how special they were in the life of Jesus when he grew up.

We also sang a song about Jesus being the Light of the World, and how he helps people today.

The children played a game where they had to build a Wise Man.

The children also made cards of the story of the Wise Men, to remind them of everything they had learned during their visit to Wesley Place

Wesley Place is a busy, active church, with a strong Church Family, and
Jesus at the centre of everything we do.
